Title
Longitudinal Dyadic Assessment of Unmet Needs and Psychosocial Wellbeing in Stem Cell Transplant

Description
We will recruit 40 transplant patient-caregiver dyads (40 patient and 40 caregivers, for a total of 80 participants total) as they enter the evaluation testing phase of transplant, which generally occurs days to weeks before transplant. Participants will complete surveys at six timepoints: pre-transplant, inpatient admission (Day 0), discharge (Day 15-20), Day 40, Day 100, and Day 180. Note that these timepoints are approximate: Participants will have a one week window to complete the surveys, and up to three reminders will be sent. Surveys will assess unmet supportive care needs, need for and utilization of community support services (e.g., respite care, transportation assistance), employment status and intentions, illness/caregiving identity, symptoms/functioning, psychological capital, and coping activities. Caregivers will additionally report on objective characteristics of the care role (e.g., relationship; presence of other helpers), subjective caregiving burden, burnout, and positive aspects of caregiving. At the first timepoint, all participants will also report on sociodemographics and a small number of clinical characteristics will be recorded form the medical record (i.e., date and type of diagnosis, type of transplant, comorbid conditions). Each survey will take around 40-50 minutes to complete.
